The NDIS is Australia’s first national insurance Scheme for people with disability. It provides funding directly to individuals.
How do I apply
You will need to talk to a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) at your local NDIS office. Talk to them and ask them what supporting documentation you will need to lodge with your application form
Am I eligible for the NDIS
You need to be aged between 9 and 65
If you are younger than 9 years old you will need to consider the early childhood approach whereby the NDIS support under 9 year olds and their families. Are you an Australian Citizen, permanent resident or protected special category Visa Holder You need to live in Australia
Disability Requirements Do you have a disability caused by permanent impairment The NDIS is only available to people who have a disability caused by a permanent impairment . The impairment may be intellectual, cognitive, neurological, sensory, physical, or psychosocial.

What types of supports are funded?
- daily personal activities
- transport to enable participation in community, social, economic and daily life activities
- workplace help to allow a participant to successfully get or keep employment in the open or supported labour market
- therapeutic supports including behaviour support
- help with household tasks to allow the participant to maintain their home environment
- help to a participant by skilled personnel in aids or equipment assessment, set up and training
- home modification design and construction
- mobility equipment, and
- vehicle modifications.
Whats is the NDIA
The NDIA is the agency than handles and distributes the funds into Participants Plans.
